Narendra Modi's visit: Massive clashes in Baitul Mukarram area
Protesters clashed with police in the Baitul Mukarram Mosque area of the capital Dhaka over the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bangladesh.
It is learned that after the Friday prayers, a group of people suddenly started the procession with anti-Modi slogans and clashes broke out when the police obstructed it.
Muhurmuhu police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to control the situation, said the protesters threw stones.

Several people, including journalists, were injured in the incident.
It is learned that after the Friday prayers, a group of people started chanting slogans and another group of people attacked them from the north side of the mosque.
At that time there was a fight between the two sides and at one stage the anti-Modi people entered the mosque.

However, after a while, they re-organized and tried to counter-attack, then the clash continued for a while.
Meanwhile, the police came and fired tear gas and blank bullets and rubber bullets at the anti-Modi people.
Besides, police and RAB surrounded the mosque area from all sides.
Virtually the whole area turned into a battlefield in clashes from time to time till about three o'clock in the afternoon.

Law enforcement forces later took control of the situation, but a group of people were seen inside the mosque around 4pm tending to some of the injured.
For the past few days, some Islamist and some left-wing organizations have been holding separate programs in protest of Narendra Modi's visit to Dhaka.
Clashes also broke out in Dhaka's Motijheel area on Thursday afternoon.
